With the viscerality of the best pre-Velvet pump-organ dronings (or is it rather the sound of the ru-be, the reed instrument of the south-east asian Ma-peoples), energized with the wholly contemporary dynamics of a dj-set and sparkling with the post-neurotic kinetics of glitch (very much like a good champagne), no simple feelings will completely convey the affect that Arturas Bumsteinas' latest piece brings about (and i haven't even mentioned the title yet, casting it's elliptic semiotic shadow over the whole) - what remains to be said is that this is HAPPY music: whilst a gleeful heroism appears to have come over the troops, and the sun may even be a-shining like a glinstening jewel; blazing, like the buttons on... 'this uniform'...

deeper listening
Like the space-tone music of Stephan Mathieu, this release of Arturas Bumsteinas doesn't reward the impatient. If it fails to grab you wherever you first drop the needle, it does draw you in with an extended, deeper listening. Too eventful to be called drone music, too sonically rich to be IDM, "this uniform" shows Bumsteinas settling into and exploring his process with an apparently limited canvas of sounds, and finding quite a few hidden gems in the thread.

Breathtaking...
... i miss the words right now to describe what i hear. Let's try it this way: i haven't been knocked out by a track since "do while" by oval. The music just passes through me like a dream, bringing memories of long time favourites (gastr del sol, tony conrad, oval...) Not only is it worth the download, this will blow your mind. Absolutly brilliant.
