An album of mainly traditional US old time songs plus a few Celtic tunes. Recorded in Liverpool, UK, in 1993 by a group of musicians playing together, jamming, busking and the occasional gig who subsequently adopted the band name: "Shake that Little Foot". The name was inspired by a line in the song "Sally Ann".
Members of the band:
Steve Bannister (guitar, vocals)
Ian Jacks (violin)
Tom Joad (guitar, vocals)
Andrew Martyn (clawhammer banjo)
Vic Wilcox (clawhammer banjo, vocals)

First distributed locally as an analogue tape in 1993. Subsequently distributed as mp3 files and also as a CD on the Web in 2000 after getting the original tracks from the recording engineer, Mike Cooper.
The tracks are now available here in the higher quality lossless flac format.
The track "Sally Ann" is a composite arrangement of three different traditional versions of this tune: a frailing banjo tune (the intro), a fiddle tune (the instrumental break) and a song.
Don't miss the comic "Flopped-Eared Mule". There is also a rollicking rendition of "Bill Cheathum" which will be sure to get your feet a-dancing. Oh, and there is a banjo version of "Scotland the Brave" to a back beat like you've never heard it before.
The whole album was recorded in one day in an attic studio in Southport, a seaside suburb in the greater Liverpool area. The tunes and songs didn't require rehearsing, just a quick run through for the benefit of the engineer before beginning the recordings. So, effectively they were live performances with just an occasional overdub.
Sadly, two of the musicians, guitarist Steve Bannister and banjo player Andrew Martin, have since passed away.
