Yup, some more dark stuff from The Zen Potato. This piece is about 51 minutes and it's divided into a few segments. It starts out really dark, with washes of dark noise like you're in some abandoned industrial complex. Then suddenly at around 10 minutes it stops and a voice says: That's all I have to say. The voice goes into loopmode and keeps repeating that sentence over and over for about 3 minutes and then suddenly it fades out again and a darker voice says: testing 1,2,3,4. This keeps repeating for some time as well, all the time twisting knobs and mangling the sample eventually. A dark noise sets in as well and this keeps going on for a while and then it sounds like the sample goes in a reverse of some kind and you can make out it says something with Leshna. That starts at around 17 minutes into the track and it goes on for about ten minutes (all the while accompanied by dark noise) it builds up and up, getting noisier when it suddenly shifts back in last gear at around 27 minutes into the track and then the rest of the track is drone all the way to the end with a noise that sounds like, well, how do I explain? I'll try: do you know the sound you hear when it's very quiet and you hear the faint kind of rush inside your ears? It's actually your blood flowing through your veins... (some say that the low hum is the sound your spirit makes) anyway, amplify that a little and you get an idea what the last 25 minutes of this track sounds like. Well, it's been a lengthy review all in all, but as the rating shows I've given this 4 stars instead of five. The reason behind that is because I'm not so fond of the beginning of this track. It's true the build up towards the last 25 minutes is enticing, but the sounds used in the first 27 minutes are not really my thing. The last 25 minutes are, so most of the score comes from that. Anyway, solid drone once again, but Zen Potato can do better, as heard in his Torque & Librium release and his take on Mystified's 'Constant'. Still, 4 stars is a pretty good score. Drone on...
