Kotra, aka Dmytro Fedorenko, explores extreme audio terroritory. Or should one say audio terror? With this EP he presents 5 tracks of intense, minimal frequencies. The emphasis here is on testing your pain threshhold. Also doubles as a sonic enema. Not responsible for hearing damage or blown speakers.

yes this is a difficult release, but there's musicality to it...and that's what redeems it. it's the sonic equivilent of sungazing, with the caveat being "don't look right AT it". i had the volume turned down from the start and was rewarded.

Hey, wanna test your pain threshold for hearing really loud high pitched noises? Go get this. Everyone else, steer well clear of this one. Looking for some Kotra material? Check out the Stamina release, as stated in the other review. This release is just plain audio-horror. Maybe an excellent way to torture someone: bind them to a chair and let them listen to this for some time. Guaranteed you'll have scarred them for life. It's that bad, really.

after hearing kotra's 'stamina' ep on nishi, i was well-disposed to hearing new material from this artist who quite surprised me in the first place. but now i find what i feared that time as a newbie to his music; extreme and disturbing frequencies, intense and penetrating micronoises, more than 'sound terror', as the zeromoon guys describe it, i would talk about 'sound horror'. i dont know if the label's focus is actually on senseless noise and such, which genre i cant say i dislike, but in any case i give this release 2 stars, for the crafting capacity you can here behind the corner. but if you're looking for interesting material from this artist, dont try this, get 'stamina' on nishi (release 055) instead.
