We are inviting listeners to suggest more interesting titles for our pieces. If any occur to you, please leave a little review (it's easy - see the link below) in which you suggest them. You can tell us what you think of our music at the same time. Any suggested titles we like may end up getting adopted. File names encode recording information, as follows: "010605-d2t1x2-2130to2412.mp3" would be excerpt 2 from track 1 of minidisc 2 (running from 21:30 to 24:12 of that track) recorded during the session on 1st June 2005. Sessions are usually in two parts - we fill one disc, stop for tea, and then fill another disc. |

Subject: Takes a while to get going...
First piece starts off rather turgidly - drums a bit too upfront and slightly distorted. The groove breaks down about halfway in, starts to get a bit more interesting.
More of the same jam in track 2, but it's come more into its own - nice use of bells, bassline a bit more solid now.
Track 3: the jam has come to maturity - a chunk of this ended up on one of the COTD compilations (no. 6, I think)
Track 5 is from a new jam. The saz is involved now. A bit too 'busy' for a while, but gets into a lovely flow.
Track 6 is certainly the centrepiece here. A little way in, the saz lines, wah-wah guitar and loose groove feel like we're properly in COTD world - then come the little wafts of feedback and the whole thing warps out very nicely.
Track 7 is something rather different - walking bassline - doesn't quite gel tho'.
Nice flute vibes in track 8, going into an amorphous jam with heavy percussion. Last piece carries on in a similar spirit.
Really this session should have been edited down to about half of what's here. A lot of marginal stuff, but 4 stars for the good bits (mostly track 6).
[The murky distored sound may be due to 128 MP3 bitrate - later COTD session uploads were done as 192s]
