Sp84 Philly Run: N1
Super charged/high octane run of shows. The highlight of this one, no question - third quarter China-Rider->Estimated->Terrapin - is featured on D3 of the recent Dave's 35. (Post-drumz The Wheel->Wharf Rat->Sugar Magnolia is filler on D2.)

The Three Stoges Go To The Show
Another fond memory of three idiots (I say that affectionately) in the front seat of an old beat up station wagon (think Vista Cruiser) all of us old enough to know better and late as hell for the show and the run from the burbs down to the Venue - where is this place anyway...half way there we have to pull over so the driver can imbibe with Moe and Curly the two idiots he had with him - gimme me some of that stuff - why I oughta - and then zowy we're there parked right next to the venue - i mean it was a ridiculous parking spot any closer and we would have driven into the damn building - we look frightening stumbling out of the kingswood estate station wagon another fine ford product, somebody put a coat of wax on that thing and button up the upholstery - hanging from the ceiling -and hurry, hurry, hurry into the show - tense, wired and a bit twitchy thank god we don't have far to walk and mingle with the straight folks for too long on the City streets. We're here hurray inside - and then we get lost...
...no not I can't find my seat are we in the right section lost(because we usually had pretty good seats and wanted to claim them) - I mean flat out lost. We wind up under the arena somehow, under the damn stage or next to it and under the stands - and it's all white and concrete and there are no doors except several that we try that don't look like they have been opened in decades - er ahh i don't want to know whats behind here - not quite spinal tap because - we are not back stage just down stairs somewhere - no bathrooms - nothing - like a scene from clockwork orange all white - everything is white...and we are staring at a concrete wall painted white...insane asylum white - guys I think we took a wrong turn - how the hell did we get under here - I can hear Phil clearly as Bertha cranks up - we back trace our steps - drag our alleged ring leader who probably would have stayed down there all night and thought it was cool...by the collar - we find our seats and the dead heads behind me are looking at me funny as I bark - there's your seat - don't move - me being the youngest of the three morons - well it was a blast - great freakin seats - right on top of Jerry and of course I had bolted like a mad man at the sounds of Bertha - got a great Bird Song, Terrapin and a Wharf Rat that night. I was in 7th heaven - to me this was a great, great show and I love Larry and Curly don't get me wrong - how do you get lost after you are inside the venue - no other people around, no vendors, no crew, no staff, and obviously under the whole damned event - how we found our way back out and to our seats before Bertha was over is a mystery to me - and that no one stopped us going up or down - we must have looked really deranged or been invisible.

Farmers' Daughters
This old barn was filled with dosing bumpkins. The "church" lighting and sound on the Rat was unbelievable. Top Ten show that I caught.

What makes a good show?
I'm always amazed on what makes a good show. Is it how hard the ticket was to get, a song they a haven't played in a while or the build up from tour. This show is amazing because every song is on. No one I know listens to this show and Idon't know why. Put this show in and don't tell you friends where this show is from. They will all be like Oakland 83 or 82 Warfield so on and so on. Great sounding show and just an all around good time.

Listen for the Estimated and Wharf Rat alone (one of the best I have heard on 400+ shows here)Baby Blue, China>Rider, CC Rider.... This is one very hot, hot show.

Very Underrated Show!
Although not as pleasing to the eye on paper as the next 2 nights in Philly this show is smoking! Rocking high energy 1st set, Jerry is on fire. 2nd set is tighter than a nuns ass, very good playing and energy all around. Get this one!
