There isn't so much story here that it gets in the way of the music.
If you're a Louis Jordan fan, this one's for you.
This one's all about the music, with three full Louis Jordan swing numbers before the storyline even starts.
In a 67-minute running you get 14 songs by Louis with his Tympany Five, June Richmond, Mabel Lee, and Bea Griffith.

Louis Jordan - What else do you need?!
Louis Jordan was one of the most talented composers and musicians of the era. He really pioneered R&B and Rock music in the 40s and 50s.
If not for him, modern music would be several shades tamer.
Watch, and understand where today's music comes from.

Very Good!
Lots of great music, as previous reviewers have noted. Humor is also of good quality, and there's none or little of the "dialect" humor sometimes seen in race films ("Juke Joint", anyone?).

Plot is rather thin
But I think the movie was just an excuse to play the music. That's alright. The music is good. The music makes it worth watching.
