Jesus directs us to watch and pray so that our hearts are guarded against every motivation of the flesh. Temptations surround us in our modern world, but having our minds and hearts focused upon Jesus reveals our flaws and exposes our weaknesses, causing us to make corrections and walk even closer to Jesus. Walking circumspectly (watching) helps me identify my human frailties and pinpoints areas of vulnerability to sin.
