Subject: Helen MacKellar is outstanding.
Helen MacKellar was an outstanding actress. Her performance in this film as a mother whose son goes wrong was natural and sensative. Johnny Downes, as the son, also does a good job.
The script, however, is too melodramatic and
predictable -even for 1939.
