X-Women (GEN) (1996)

Before the days when controlling solely female characters in a video game was the norm (thanks to Lara Croft), comes a pseudo-sequel to the popular X-Men and X-Men 2 for the Genesis, titled X-Women.

The game follows the same formula established by its predecessors, except the player controls an all-female team from the pages of the comic series. But, like many other titles that were announced for the Genesis during its twilight years (the company behind the console, Sega, dropped development for several games midstream to concentrate on their newest platform, Saturn), X-Women was never released.

You'd think it ought to have been titled "X Women & the Sinister Virus."

But no. X-Women. They are a virus of an under(left)handed variety.
