One of the German submarines returning to base in Lorient can be identified from the trophies shown in the fragment
6:51 to 6:56. Two names, "Jagersfontein" and "Suwied" are clearly legible and identify the submarine as U-107 under the command of Kapitänleutnant Harald Gelhaus, returning on 11 July 1942 from its sixth patrol right across the Atlantic to the Bahamas, lasting 82 days, during which 7 vessels were sunk, including the "Jagersfontein" (Netherlands) and the "Suwied" (USA). All 220 on board the "Jagersfontein", including 86 US army officers, were rescued by the Swiss merchant ship "St Cergue". As for the "Suwied", the 27 survivors of the 33 people on board were rescued by USCGC "Nemesis".
