Algiers demonstrations IN SUPPORT to France in Algeria
these protestors are actually french colons!!!
this is a civil war scene between french algerian (colons), not muslims!
the muslims were dressed the arab way not with european suits and they did not live downtown with the colons but in the outskirts.
this is a valuable footage though probably unseen in france because of the unique national tv channel by this time, and the state censorship.

In Other War News...
Newsreel clip of street violence in Algiers during the struggle for Algerian independence during the 50s. A bus wreck is a striking moment in this. Has historical interest and some striking scenes of violence, but not too much else.
Ratings: Camp/Humor Value: N/A. Weirdness: ***. Historical Interest: ****. Overall Rating: ***.

Insightful
To know more about the turbulent times represented in the clip, see the movie, "The Battle for Algiers". It's a brutally honest film with amazing corollaries for today, ie: the use of torture, etc....
