Thanx CASTRO & Dan. You should probably just read Diana Hamilton & Eric Mead's reviews and take the average of 4 stars on this one.
Why is this show so reviewed and DLed when there are other equally compelling and beautifully recorded AMT shows available here?
And what's up with the weed vs acid thing. They both can be exciting or cause you not to want to leave the couch. They both seem to have a place!
If you can grab a hold of this stuff, enjoy going out there. I love listening to this band. Reminds me more of 70's Prog rock meets 60's blues psychedelia meets a chugging techno groove. Go figure and listen good. Peace

Subject: i like the dead
and i like AMT. if you like crazy acid feedback freakouts (67-69 dead) this might be for you. if you like bobby singing his cowboy bullshit, this might not be for you. in closing acid=good music, weed=boring music

Instead of comparing AMT to the Ash Ra Tempel, Amon Duul II, Gong, Hawkwind, and Can, broaden your horizons and compare them to the Grateful Dead.

If you're gonna be a nitpicky music reviewer, you should at least realize nobody gives a crap. Acid Mothers sound as much like the Dead to me as much as whiney music twerps sound like they need a spanking. Quite a bit.

Instead of comparing AMT to the Grateful Dead, broaden your horizons and educate yourself with the following to better undestand AMT : Ash Ra Tempel, Amon Duul II, Gong, Hawkwind, Can.

If you're gonna pick a band apart, you should at least get the influences and comparisons right. Acid Mothers sound as much like the dead to me as Frank Zappa sounds like Abba.

I haven't heard this yet, but I know I'm going to love it. I just saw them play. marvelous. don't take the bad or good reviews to heart. get your own opinion, don't let someone else decide for you. you may hate it or love it. thankfully, i'm one of the lucky ones that get to have something to love this much. good luck.

One of the most prolific and original bands of our time. Like others have mentioned if you are into straight forward rock music STAY AWAY! Grateful Dead was 40 years ago and doesn't even compare. Stoners beware, acid head rejoice!

If you are looking for catchy hooks, flowing vocals and sweet melodies, this is NOT the band for you. This band does not conform to a particular style, but forges it's own path. I liked the improv factor to this music.

The recording is very good. I would recommend this show. Thanks.

Id give it a 4 based on the fact that it is not th ewhole show, but the musicianship/sound bring it back up to a 5. The jams are far from boring (for this listener). this is one of the best shows ive ever d/l from this website!!

Reviewer: Diana Hamilton - [3.0 out of 5 stars] - December 7, 2004
Subject: Modern Acid Test
Despite the comparative note in the txt file, holding up this AMT set to the Grateful Dead would be unfair to both bands, especially since the Dead changed so much over their career. Aficionados of '72-74 Dead jams will probably be disappointed by the AMT jamming approach here, which instead feels more like the '66 Acid Tests.

There are 2 contrasting styles in this set. Besides the "make some noise and see what happens" style of the more freeform tracks, other tracks lay down an extended, repetitive groove salted with a line of improv. The effect of the latter is trancy (which will translate to quite boring, depending on listener).

While listening, I felt something missing: I got the impression that the at-show experience may well be pretty important for fully enjoying this band (I've not seen them live). Heh, that's probably just like it was at the original Acid Tests.

fantastic recording and playing from the post-cotton casino acid mothers temple. of the shows circulating from this tour, this seems to be the only one featuring "electric love machine."

80 min. (last min of pink lady lemonade is cut off to fit onto one 80min cdr)

Kawabata Makoto: guitar, vocal, speed guru
Koizumi Hajime: drums, sleeping monk
Higashi Hiroshi: synthesizer, guitar, vocal, dancin'king
Tsuyama Atsushi: monster bass, vocal, cosmic joker

::notes from Dan::
It was recorded on spacelands house mics straight through the soundboard. We stupidly only brought one CD so me missed the best La Novia I've ever seen or heard.
One of the best, if not THE best gig I've ever seen in my life!!! Thinking back is makes the best dead show I've seen look like a joke, UNREAL guitar and just SICK SICK SICK JAMS!!!
