Interview with Per Nørgård (March 13, 1971)

This audio is available in streaming format

On November 30, 1970, Per Norgard, the then 38 year old Danish composer, talked with Charles Amirkhanian in the KPFA-FM Studios. Norgard discusses his early studies with Vagn Holmboe and others and explains his system of music composition known as the “infinity row”, which can generate compositions of any duration up to and including a millennium. These works which also have numerous layers and sub-layers constituted his output of the time.

The program was originally broadcast on March 13, 1971.
Note: During this recording there was occasional electrical interference which is noticable but does not impair the listening experience to any great degree.
