Avionix are pleased to announce the release of our newest online EP ; Singularity, from Patrick Walker under his 3Carbine alias. Having attracted the recent attention of several UK, European and international labels, Walker's output continues to go from strength.
The Singularity blends dancefloor sensibilities with more abstract leanings, combining the sound of floor shaking tech-house/techno with grungey tones (courtesy of Flameboy main man - Jakeone), slinky percussion and in places : a touch of brooding orchestral arrangement.Overall, this EP is as sassy and exciting as it is cutting edge and forward thinking and could be compared with a cross between artists such as Tobias Schmidt's earlier output on Sativae and more minimal techno on a Hawtin tip.
Leaked teasers of the EP have already received recognition and rotation from many underground DJ's across the globe, with a recent mix featuring "Ghostline" being aired on German electronic site : zerinnerung.de
Opening up the EP : Antivision kicks of with a pumped Tech house groove which builds and builds, introducing abstract ,yet linear polyrythyms and grungey
tones which give the track a sinister, but upbeat feel. Additional percussion and analogue stabs fill out the mix to make most of the dynamics making this a great track
for middle of the night shuffling before the beats become more frenzied ! Subtle fills and changes complete the track and make this highly compatible with the dancefloor.
Next up is Ghostline, this track has been circulating as a teaser for some time now, and we're very pleased with the reaction it's had. It's deep, it's muddy, and it
fuses elements of glitch house, with techno reminicant of the early works of Tobias Schmidt, who obviously seems to be an influence here. The track starts off with a deep groove
off kilter bleeps and deep subs. Tricky fills and abstract tones kick in and the track is soon itching away with it's freaky groove. If Martians were to invade the planet, you can bet they'll be
playing this in whatever passes for the Officer's mess.
The title track Singularity is a doom laden slice of purist techno, with a glitchfunk edge it's not too fast, but don't let that fool you, these beats are HEAVY. Combining an industrial edge on the drums, the track
weaves more of those grungey tones with tricky abstract stabs and nagging percussion, this track epitomises what the 3carbine sound is all about : the fusion of heavy purist techno, with a more
experimental edged micro-twist. Reminicant of the works of artists such as DJ Slip or even a toned down Surgeon, Singularity is a Dark, monster of a track.
Winding up the EP is Ved3432, and experimental fusion of orchestral, ambient and glitchy techno. inspired by hearing Sutekh\s work on Murcof's album for Leaf records : Utopia,
Walker has weaved together some of his soundtrack work for Halflife 2 Conversion : Project Hullbreach into a proto-tech sound. With dark vocal snippets, edgy metalic fills, and razor sharp beats,
Ved3432 is a peice which stands up as being a timeless peice of Techno capable of enderaing even the most cynical critic of Techno to this new and exciting sound.
