This audio is available in streaming format

The Alex Blake Quintet performs at Other Minds 10 at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, 2004.

Alex Blake, bass
Chris Hunter, soprano, alto and tenor saxophone
Ted Cruz, piano
Victor Jones, drums
Bidal Roy, tables

Panamanian-born and New York-raised, Alex Blake draws upon his eclectic Latin and post bop experience to create exciting and original music. Blake was precociously talented as a youth, touring with Sun Ra as a teenager, and later with Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard and McCoy Tyner, though he cites Jimi Hendrix as a primary influence. Known for the past decade as bassist for Randy Weston African Rhythms, Blakes recent CD Now is the Time, featuring Pharoah Sanders, represents his debut as bandleader.
