Really NICE Television
With all the emphasis on GOOD behavior in the early days of television there was an even greater abundance of 'cowboy' stuff.
O'course there was SOooooo much cowboy stuff 'cause the 'cowboy' movie was really cheap to make. How many grownups today are STILL wearing jeans and patterned colored shirts?
Well, they were just Everywhere - - - - Movies, radio shows, and then television. But they were cowBOYs. Oh every pichure jus' 'bout hade the female influence sommers in there but as the protagonist / heroine?
Well lessee, there was Dale Evans , Crack shot and she has her monents BUT she's still wife of ROY ... Roy Rogers.. STAR of the Roy Rogers Show. Any others that STAR a heroine?
FINALLY along comes Annie Oakley... Now my sister had a character all her own to emulate. Jus' a very slight wee little far fetched with the exaggerations but much good to watch. She was never Really ticked at Tad - never beat her younger charge (course in television - nobody really EVER even spanked the kid no matter how much it was deserved)and then there's the opening credits. Friend holds up a playing card that she nails with a six gun while STANDING on a galloping horse? from at LEAST 50 yards out AND he holds it in front if himself.... to boot? No $%^%#$@#^ way ! ! ! Me? I'd have that card wedged into a stick and holding it as far above as I could while crouching/cowering/hiding in mortal terror down behind something more protective than good solid AIR.
But at long last - HERE - was a program, a western mind you, STARRING a girl.... a girl that did NOT want to be a man but retained feminine charm even though she was sometimes more capable than anyone else around herself.
Way ta Go, Annie Oakley. ! ! !

Cute and entertaining catch the bad guys
Annie Oakley and pals catch the bad guys. Fun entertainment without killing, gore and bad language. Not a waste of time to see how it use to be on tv. Very simple and straight forward.
