Avon Comedy 4
Irving Kaufman made hundreds of records in the acoustic period and his crisp, clean voice is recognizable to fans of that era. BUT! Two of the Avon Comedy 4 are the world famous Smith & Dale, inspiration for The Sunshine Boys by Neil Simon. They are especially recognizable in Cohen's Wedding and the School Teacher. They stood trial in 1909 for performing that routine in Vaudeville on a Sunday in NYC. Oscar Hammerstein wanted a test case and they were it. This collection is a literal trove!
