The Sewing Circle is the self-titled first release from Chase & Preston, two cousins living in Florida. This album is perhaps one of the finest examples in the burgeoning new genre of lo-fi family bedroom pop. Guest vocals on Three Little Fishies are by the artists late grandmother, Marylin.

Subject: timeless
I listened to this album last night for the first time since 3 or 4 years ago when it was released and I still think it's fantastic and innovative.

Subject: Whimsical genius here...
I get the same feeling while listening to this album as I did 25+ years ago when I first heard The Residents...It was so shockingly different from the multi-layered Symphonic Classical, Avantgarde and Prog stuff I was listening to at the time. I wanted to dismiss it as "Playtoy" music, yet I kept coming back to it. In my opinion, this is what makes the difference between good music and GREAT music...something you keep coming back to, just to find out what makes it alluring. This album definitely falls into the latter camp. A must download!

Subject: This is not music that I like
I don't like this music because it sounds bad when it is going into my ears. I advise you to stop making it because it is very bad. I give it a 5.

Subject: Caleb (truckstop coffee)
I got this CD from Preston of the Sewing Circle while playing guitar at The Art Village Cafe in West Palm , Took it home that night and couldnt believe it. Ive been playing it constantly in my daily rotation at work ever since. Definately one of the most innovative, and unique albums Ive heard in a long time. Thanks so much for the album, and please keep on putting out music.

Subject: Post-discovery madness
So whats with the title? Simply, the madness came -post- discovery of the Sewing Circle. And that madness is certainly of the positive variety. I first came accross this band when I encountered the name of a friend listing himself as a member of this musical coalition on another website. Turns out that indeed this is his project, and although i have yet to write a formal email of praise to my friend about this album, Preston, you can expect one soon. The Sewing Circle comes with all the upbeat emotional satisfaction you would expect from songs about thylacine sightings in the forest, while at the same time giving its listeners an opportunity to boost their musical-egos. Telling your friends aobut "The Sewing Circle" will not only score points by showing off how much you know about the 'lesser known' "lo-fi family bedroom pop" (as the distributor, bedroombrain.com, calls it) scene, but also by getting your friends hooked on the catchy melodies you cant help but become friendly with. Listening to "The Sewing Circle" even made me feel nostalgicfor one of Preston's older music projects, "The Friendship and Unity Club for Kids," whose stlye managed to seemingly combine this band's name with its acronym. I'm not sure if this is going too far out onto a limb, but I can almost sense the influence of some other wordly artists in this album. For example, the verse...one word chorus....long bridge...one word chorus... structure of "Apparition over Nuremberg" seems to parallel the autistic genius of Wesley Willis. Without a doubt I give this album a firm five stars. -AJ Meyer

pretty kool ... reminds me of an early dead milkmen mixed with early 80s cure if i had to try to pin point references .. but i think the best one can do is to hear if for themselves .. a good sample track i think is 'The Rejuvinative Properties of'
