The Venerable Bede"Sermon on All Saints' Day" ()

Would you like to try our new video/audio player ? (beta!)

Circa A.D. 710, the Venerable Bede wrote this sermon. It was translated by the Rev. John M. Neale. An interesting and touching look at the Feast of All Saints and the doctrine of the Communion of Saints, and a glimpse of Saxon England's religious life.

Subject: Sermon on All Saints Day
It is well for us in this cynical callous world to have a reminder of what is to come. We lose the importance of Heaven and All the Saints and is is good to be reminded by such as the Venerable Bede. I thank him in my heart for the uplifting picture he paints and shall strive to attain that of which he speaketh.
