This program, "The Betty Hutton Show", featured seriously uneven writing and supporting cast. However, here is a really bad episode. Just like the other episode I uploaded, this is NOT funny! No wonder nobody watched it!

Yeah, this show sucks, without a doubt. But there have been so many bad, truly bad sit-coms over the years. One only has to remember the likes of "Joni loves Chachi, " "Happy Days," "Life With Luigi," and "That 70's Show."Lord knows I can go on. It's just something about the sit-com format that brings out the worst writing. I'm not sure if it's in the way they try to make everything palatable for everybody or what but even in old time radio, many of the sit-coms were just plain dreadful.Someone should do a dissertation on the whole genre and force all Hollywood writers to read it. Hopefully such an action would prevent the perpetuation of bad television.

ms hutton was beat up by nbcs bat masterson in the mist of a three year run and by the surging donna reed show on abc which seemed to have the wholesome mom and kids audience . ms hutton mentioned in one her latter day interviews that this show suffered because of poor writing etc. she also said she spent $600,000 of her own money . perhaps if she really played a showgirl using her singing/dancing/physical comedy abilities instead of the nanny premise . but similar to judy garland a few years later maybe she was too manic a personality for television at that time. at any rate she was physically gifted dynamic performer.

This show is so wretched that the fake laughing machine finds it hard to function. Imagine if this lousy show was filmed before a live audience, there would be complete silence if not for the sound of people getting up and leaving their seats for the exit in the middle of the show.

Another shot of Betty's legs to open this episode. Was this how every episode opened? Betty was a beautiful lady, but this show stank.

Almost as good as Dusty's Trail.

Betty Hutton is fantastic. It's the funniest show I've ever seen, has Lucy beaten by a mile. Tom Conway is a little stilted and that may be why the program didn't last for 5 to 10 years, as it should have back in those days.

Inasmuch as I want to support Tom Conway, and if you read my review on the other betty hutton show episode, you'll see why...
I just can't make it through the entire episode. I got to the point where betty answered the door wearing the wig, and I had to stop. I could feel the show sucking essential life force from my body, it sucked so bad.
I wanted to come on here and say "Hey, it's not that bad" or "Be nice... Betty Hutton was dealt such a raw deal in her life..." but I can't. This is crap. Pure crap.
I'm giving it a three because the quality of the upload was it's only good point, and I don't want whoever uploaded this to feel i'm slamming him/her.
