After the Wisconsin primary the clear front runners in the campaign for the White House are Republican John Mccain and Democrat Barack Obama. And this week's show marks the first in a series of shows on what may be described as a battle for reality; what Republicans versus Democrats will argue about the dangerous of our time, US Military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, possible wider war against Iran, environmental dangers, an economic recession, continued fears about security after 9/11.
We will hear from a variety of experts on politics and the issues to discuss different voting blocks and what kinds of rhetoric might sway them. And we begin with a look at John McCain. We turn first to Bill Israel for a discussion about Karl Rove, Bush's Brain, has he been grafted onto the McCain campaign? Bill Israel's forthcoming book is "Stealing Reality: the Rise of the Right, the Fracture of News, the Lessons of Karl Rove."
Next week we will hear from Jacob Hielbrunn, author of the new book, They knew they were Right: The Rise of the Neo-cons. Jacob Heilbrunn is a senior editor at The National Interest, a publication of The Nixon Center.
