Set in Nevada in the 1860's, Bonanza chronicled the adventures of the Cartwright family who owned a large ranch called The Ponderosa. Ben Cartwright and his three sons, Adam, Hoss, and Joe fought for what was just and decent in a time where lawlessness was common.
The widowed patriarch Ben Cartwright had three sons, each by a different wife: the oldest was the urbane architect Adam Cartwright, who built the ranch house. The second was the warm and lovable giant Eric, better known by his nickname "Hoss." And the youngest was the hotheaded and impetuous Joseph or "Little Joe." They all lived and worked on The Ponderosa. Nearby Virginia City helped populate the episodes with guest starring characters from all over America.
Broadcast between September 1959 and January 1973. Filmed by the National Broadcasting Company at Paramount Studios.

With A Name Like That....
With a name like slugs and urchins, you know exactly what to expect. I uploaded these because they're great, not because they're terrible. A terrible show gets cancelled before 13 episodes even get made. A terrible show doesn't last 14 seasons on television. Bonanza doesn't fit the mold of a terrible show. It's a classic and will always remain so.

Bonanza was one of the worst TV shows ever produced. This episode is not an exception; it's predictable, contrived, and dull.
Don't waste electrons. Watch the Beverly Hillbillies instead!

Great episode!!
Death at dawn (April 30, 1960) is the last episode of Season 1, (ep#32) and one of the best Bonanza episodes.
Plot: The Cartwrights wear the badge to make sure that a killer does not escape justice. When Ben is taken hostage in exchange for the prisoner, Adam, Hoss and Joe face a difficult dilema. And they have only six hours till dawn to make a decision...
Wonderful episode! The variety of brother-moments connotes the subtle tense between them, and shows that dispite their differences, they always stick together. Then, there's the main problem of the organised crime established in Virginia City, which drowns the townspeople into fear. The Cartwrights have to choose. The law at the risk of losing their pa, or the impunity?
Quotes:
Ben: I raised my sons to make their own decisions.
Definately recomended!
