Just when you thought Botany Bay was making promises they couldn't keep - "Grounded" is finally here. And it has managed to not only keep the promises made, but quite a few besides that were never actually made.
Yes, it's emotion-packed, intimate and intense - what do you expect when someone puts all their heart and soul into an album? But at times it's also suprisingly funny and playful - while still remaining seamless and of a piece. And: The whole album is licensed under a creative commons by-nc-nd license. Neat, eh?
Botany Bay are an Alternative Pop Duo consisting of Stephan Kleinert (keys, g, perc, programming) and Laura Dietrich (voc, keys), aided and abetted by a host of guest musicians.

On the CD, nearly all tracks segue into each other. Unfortunately, this effect can not be achieved with all but a few mp3 players. We recommend using iTunes and its "gapless album" feature to get the most out of "Grounded".

Subject: splendid!
Why is it that some of the best albums are available for free download? On Jameno there's ...anabase*, whose albums I've been playing repeatedly for the past couple of years or so, and now here I discover Botany Bay's excellent "Grounded", which I imagine I'm going to be playing as often and with as much pleasure.
The band's first album, "Tales of the Bitter Seed", is available for free download at last.fm.
Only the slightest complaint: nowhere on the IA page is there any indication of who's playing the excellent woodwinds.
