This is the official D-Day documentary about the real Band of Brothers, that was known as the Brothers In Arms. The only men in this video, are the men of the 502nd PIR. You can identify them by their helmet markings, which is a white heart. My uncle was a Pathfinder in Company E, 2nd Battalion, of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Division, 101st Air Borne Division You will see him in the video marked as Pfc Chuck Cleaves, with General Eisenhower on the afternoon of 5 June, as Ike addressed the troops before boarding their C-47's for the ride into France. As a Pathfinder, Chuck's job was to go jump into Normandy before the main invasion force of paratroopers arrived, and mark the landing zones for the C-47 pilots. Once Chuck was reunited with his entire company he was then a member of a 2 man team on a 30 cal. machine gun. Chuck fought in all the major engagements, and earned 4 Bronze Battle Stars, as well as several Bronze stars for his bravery in combat. The 506th PIR was the sister regiment to the 502nd, and both regiments fought together in every engagement until the end of the war.
