"Olympic Sweatshop: Speedo Production in China
Breaks Records for Worker Abuse"
with
Charles Kernaghan, Director, National Labor Committee
Speedo may be the top-selling and best-known swimwear
brand in the world, and an official sponsor of the upcoming
2008 Olympic Games in China. But, according to a new report
by the National Labor Committee, workers in China producing
Speedo sporting goods are drowning in abuse. Toys 'R' Us
and Carrefour are also implicated in this sweatshop scandal.

A Bangladeshi Workers Dream
with
Maksuda, a garment worker & member of the Bangladesh
Center for Workers Solidarity
âIf I could earn 4,500 taka a month. [$75.89/month; 37 cents/hr].
For me this would be a dream. I could afford to buy milk for my
baby, and baby food. I could repay my loans. I could buy fish &
fruit sometimes. I could buy a new dress, so I could go out once
in my life without having to wear my dirty dress from work. I
would like to have some savings for when I get older.â
