Hi -
I play drums with the Butthole Surfers and we are fine with people trading live recordings (but not studio recordings). Since this is then focus of the live archive it seems like a perfect fit.
We have a little taping message on out website:
http://buttholesurfers.com/taping.html. But it's more for people who want to record something. Really all we ask is that people not sell any live recordings, trade only.
I've been a fan or the video and web side of archive.org. I just now discovered the audio side - great work.
thanks a lot,
King Coffey
Policy

contains an image of their policy. Transcription of "policy schmolicy" as of 3/15/05:
Live Taping Policy
We encourage people to come to the shows, have a good time and if they wish, record the shows for their own use or trade with others.
We ask the following:
-If you're videotaping or bringing a camera, please don't use a flash. Use only available lighting.
-Please don't get on the stage.
-Don't ask the sound person for a board feed.
-Most of all, please don't sell this stuff. Trade only.
Keep in in mind that other bands we play with might have completely different policies. So be sure to ask them first before taping their performance. Also some venues don't allow taping at all.
If you taped something that turned out well, we'd really appreciate a copy. Send it to:

Be sure to check out the trading forum on our message board and also the mp3s we have on the site for more live recordings.
Thanks
