Multitasking

As operating systems grew more robust, one of the key new features was the ability to multitask, run several applications at the same time. This program looks at some new approaches including Concurrent DOS from Digital Research, Windows 386 from Microsoft, IBM's OS/2, Apple's A/UX, and Tandy's Xenix. Guests include Lee Reiswig, Director of the IBM Austin Lab and Gary Kildall of Digital Research. Originally broadcast in 1988.

EXCELLENT comparison of late 80's systems for small businesses and profesionals - a real keeper!

Thank you for making these gems available!

Subject: Lots of old stuff
A cool episode, since pre-Windows 3.0 & 1990, trying to get more use out of a computer was tough work, with lots of different methods.

SCO Xenix on a 286 with terminal screens for market trading.

Concurrent DOS from Digital Research.

Windows/386(2.0)

A/UX from Apple for the Mac II. OS/2 1.0 w/Presentation Manager. A very early PM, pre-shipment.

Would like to have seen a review of Desqview, but there is one in the 'Memory Management' episode from 1990.
