Reviewer:roderick young - - November 2, 2006 Subject: Fascinating tour of the house, not a "How-to" This professional-quality production goes through the author's house in Maryland, where they have retrofitted for a corn-burning stove, photovoltaic panels, and solar hot water panels.
Very little jargon is used, and the tour should be appropriate for any audience.
By employing special grant money, the family was able to retrofit their house for the claimed equivalent of $1 a day.
The author also explains some conservation measures, such as using compact fluorescent lights. Ironically, he says that updating their regrigerator to an efficient model ameliorates more carbon dioxide than their entire photovoltaic array.
With a half-hour duration, this is not at all a "how-to" production, but some sources are provided at the end for others who may be interested in doing the same.
