* Moderator: Chuck Turner, PACAREA Knowledge Management & Metrics Specialist * Panel Members: CDR John Wood (CG-0931) and representatives from CG-5, CG-1, CG-8, STT, & other stakeholders * Session Objective: Discussion of measurement issues re/ Modernization * Brief Summary: This panel discussion will illuminate current Coast Guard measurement initiatives with regard to teams currently working on the measurement of the modernization and the direction they are heading. In addition, this panel will have several members who are not intimately involved in modernization who will provide their thoughts about ideas & critical success factors for measurement during (and after) this period of change. Summit participants will also gain knowledge of what the future of measurement will be after the modernization is completed. A Q&A session will be a part of this panel presentation. * Questions from the audience: (1) Are we moving toward an enterprise-wide application for performance management not only to serve HQ needs, but also a field unit's local requirements? (2) Has the Coast Guard selected a performance management tool or will there be plans to do so? If not, does each directorite select their own? (3) How are the 3 fundamental purposes being used -- did they drive modernization efforts? Modernization is mean to reduce risk 30%, increase readiness 20%, increase ROI 50. If so, what is the baseline in each area? (4) Are there "across the LTPIO" agreed-to measures already?
