A recam of a one-on-one deathmatch (Quake2) betweem Immortal and Rix at the CPL Extreme Annihilation tournament in 1999. This 20 minute contest was the finals match, to win the elimination tournament.
720x480 DivX video. Trailer available at http://z-studios.com
Immortal was recognized as one of the most formidable competitive Quake2 opponents in the United States, his control of key regions and resources were complimented by his amazing aim. Could he solidify his reputation as one of the world's best, or would Rix topple those dreams?
This is an actual live recording of a CPL match that took place between the two opponents, each playing from separate computers hooked into the same local area network (LAN). The first-person-perspective recordings were then recammed for a more cinematic look and feel.
Craig Sparks of NetGames USA (the organization who served as referee and statistician for the tournament) had this to say in the official press release: "NetGames USA made arrangements with Overman of Zarathustra Studios to recam the final match from EA. We got him all the source demos minutes after the final Rix vs. Immortal match ended and he has been slaving away non-stop to bring us all this amazing piece of work. Thanks Overman, once again you have blown us away with your talent, insight, and perspective. We look forward to many more."
