Bernadine Janzne, TATTACCalming and Soothing Your Child with Empathy

Over the last few pod casts I have tried to lay a foundation of the need for parents, of traumatized children, to work on âempathy buildingâ. Iâll refer back to several of these pod casts as I provide some ideas for calming and soothing your child with empathy.

In the June 15, 2008 pod cast I spoke of how a parentâs brain can be retrained to learn more empathy for their child and others. Once the parent is calm the child can more easily be disconnected from their high energy state. This will allow them to be redirected and, later on, allow for safe internal awareness building and then retraining of their responses.
