A Night of Poetry & Conversation with Kit Robinson
Kit Robinson's recent books are Determination (Cuneiform, 2010), The Messianic Trees: Selected Poems, 1976-2003 (Adventures in Poetry, 2009) and Train I Ride (BookThug, 2009). Also he is a co-author of The Grand Piano: An Experiment in Collective Autobiography, San Francisco, 1975-1980 (Mode A, 2006-2010). A practicing musician, Kit plays Cuban tres guitar in the Latin dance band Bahia Son.
Audience questions occur during the discussion.
Kit read across a spectrum of his work from the early book The Dolch Stanza's (1976) to Determination (2010) and ended with a few recently completed poems. The questions and discussion wove in and among the poems and books, ranging from the use of stanza form to the interaction between the poem and the world's moving representational landscape. The evening proved to be entertaining and informative, with a tangible engagement between poet and audience. Thanks from the evening's host Avery Burns to the participants.
