Studies on the fauna, ecology and taxonomy of Orthoptera of Kirikkale [in Turkish]. Cent. ent. Stud., Priamus Suppl. 3: 1-50. Totally 4200 specimens, belonging to 90 species and subspecies in 51 genera and 8 families, collected by the author in the years of 1994-1996 from 92 localities in the province of Kirikkale (Turkey). The location of the area studied, plant cover, and the previous data on the Orthoptera fauna of the province are mentioned. The habitats in the localities, where the specimens collected are described. The valid names of the taxa used are selected and arranged according to the International Code of the Zoological Nomenclature. Original taxonomical references of the taxa of species and genus-groups are given. Family group names are critized nomenclaturally. Faunistical references of the species recorded previously in the studied area are mentioned. Material examined is arranged for each species, with the necessary collecting data. Distribution of the species are put in order in two categories, in Turkey and in abroad. Habitat peculiarities and phenology for each species are determined in the ecology part. Conclusions are evaluated from faunistical, taxonomical and ecological standpoints. Totally 69 species and subspecies are new to the Kirikkale Province, while one species (Chorthippus dorsatus) new to Turkey. Rare and little known species in the area are discussed. Species are discussed ecologically, the ratio of the endemics are cited.
