Studies on the fauna and ecology of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea in Erek Mountain (Van). Cent. Ent. Stud., Priamus Suppl. 6: 1-47 [in Turkish].
In this study, 1308 specimens of butterflies are collected by the author from Erek Mountain between the years of 2002 and 2003, for the purpose of evaluating of the butterflies from the faunal and ecological standpoints. Totally 109 species, belonging to the superfamilies of Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea are determined. Among them, 86 butterfly species are found as new to the studying area.
For all species treated in the chapter of Results, the valid scientific names, their taxonomical references, synonyms, distributional information within Turkey, as well as the faunal elements, preference of the species concerning their habitats, distribution, phenological and topographical features are mentioned in the thesis. Subspecific taxa of the recorded species are also given. The scientific names of species used in the text are adopted in accordance with the International Code of the Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN). In the chapter of Discussion, all the obtained faunal and ecological data, belonging to the species recorded from the studying area are discussed in detail. Besides, the results of the zoogeographical analyses and the differences of the faunal composition of Erek and Gevas territories are argued.
