April 4, 2005 - One full day of events in an Eastern screech owl (Megascops asio) nest, shown in time lapse. The female has laid a clutch of four eggs, the first of which hatched around two hours before this day begins. The second hatches at around 5:30 AM this day. She tends the eggs, assists with hatching, and cares for the hatchlings. Her mate delivers food periodically.
