The kitchen, Oblique House Quite a tenuous, fragile session this, particularly the first pieces, so listeners are encouraged to persist until the later stages. Henry played a simple bassline on the last piece, which John taught him. The Purple Lunchbox only appears on the last piece, and unfortunately it's not really loud enough. John played the balalaika only very briefly on the first piece - it was slightly out of tune and sounds almost flanged as a result. The 'synthesiser drones' were achieved with preset synth sounds and keys gaffer taped down. The usual Oblique House background noises, conversation, doors closing, etc. can be heard at various points. All our tracks get uploaded with the default title "untitled" since, as a collective, we have no straightforward way of deciding on anything! We are inviting listeners to suggest more interesting titles for our pieces. If any occur to you, please leave a little review (it's easy - see the link below) in which you suggest them. You can tell us what you think of our music at the same time. Any suggested titles we like may end up getting adopted. File names encode recording information, as follows: "010605-d2t1x2-2130to2412.mp3" would be excerpt 2 from track 1 of minidisc 2 (running from 21:30 to 24:12 of that track) recorded during the session on 1st June 2005. Sessions are usually in two parts - we fill one disc, stop for tea, and then fill another disc. ![]() |
