Notes

This is a view of the telephone pole that children gather at to cross the street to the school busses in the morning. This is the same pole that one or both cars have struck, and that other cars have struck in accidents at this corner.

Fortunately my Councilperson is on the ball, and pursued this after I'd been turned down four times when asking for a stop sign.

The thing is, the Indianapolis media didn't cover this. And they sometimes seem to avoid certain things for no good reason. At least that's how it seems to me. Bob Kravitz, the sports reporter, did a recent article about a new stadium not being needed and described the city as being run "top down". But the city fathers are conderned about the city's image...and this should be telling you why I think citizen journalism that can show pictures from my Indianapolis neighborhood in Italy, California, Montreal, South Africa and elsewhere, or anywhere, in the world, is a very good idea. It means that the media can't just put a lid on a story because "someone" doesn't find it newsworthy. It may not be all that newsworthy, but then again, if we let the world decide, maybe the neighborhood can get just a little more respect? And maybe the children can be a little more safe? One last note. Scott Keller is a Republican. I'm a dedicated Independent Voter. Scott knows I voted for him because the Democrat in office didn't do the job to my satisfaction. How would it be if there was some way for Independent Voters to organize and vote for people that did the jobs we want done? Instead of playing sound bites for wedge issues? Hm? More stop signs where they are needed, I'll bet you!
