Tried a month ago to make a 'wide' mix. The itb wide test is all logic plugins. The itb wide test automated the drum track to start narrow and go wide, and the synth track to start wide and go narrow., panned to the right ?? Half way thru the track i unmute a reverb channel and panned it left. preset patches of course nothing fancy. Was all the automation worth it? when i mute everything else but drums and synth it is very noticeable. but when everything else comes in it gets too busy. needs better eq.
the otb version is a jp8080, m3 and vsynth. i can't remember what panning values i set it too actually. but to me it sounds wider then anything i've been able to do itb. *shrug* poor man blames his tools after all :)
update: I've since learned my otb mixer has *stereo* busses. so when i was sending tracks to busses 1-2, i'd pan 1-2 left/right...but they were stereo. this may have contributed to the wide sound. so i bussed drums in the second itb track to a double stereo bus to see if that had any impact. maybe?
