A new song composed and performed by Gerry Dempsey.
Metamorphosis (Animal Stories)
The lion told tales of fighting and biting.
The deer told tales of running and hiding.
The eagle told of flying away on the breeze.
The tiger told of barely surviving.
The magpie told of stealing and skyving.
The fish told tales of ducking and diving at sea.
The germ told tales of spreading and catching.
The flea told tales of itching and scratching.
The monkey moaned aboat trying to catch up with the flea.
The chameleon told of his many disguises.
The rat told of scams and enterprizes.
The nightingale told - of life at the top of the tree.
But the most remarkable story of all
Was told by a creature weak and small
When the butterfly said I remember when I was a child.
I was born to sneak and to creep and to crawl,
And then in what seemed no time at all
I was turned inside-out and suddenly I could fly.
The lion told tales of fighting and biting.
The deer told tales of running and hiding.
The butterfly told of learning to fly on the breeze.
