Dr Clarence PenneyDr Clarence Penney - Toots (August 31, 1914)

embedding and help

Hot ragtime mandolin by Dr. Clarence Penney, "Toots - One-Step" was recorded on August 31, 1914. The piano accompaniment is by Felix Arndt, who also composed "Toots". Although banjo is the more usual instrument in ragtime recordings, the mandolin was also used, and this is a good example of the genre. From the original 78rpm disk.

Subject: Too cool...

The recording is a little poppy and scratchy but what do you expect from something over 80 years old? Ragtime mandolin, what a concept.

Subject: Mad Mandolin!

Absolute KILLER Mandolin recording here. If you think the mandolin is good for nothing except slow weepy music, then get a hold of this record and watch the music unfold! Quite impressive!
