This lecture, by Dr. B. Keith Murphy, Ph.D., is an introductory lecture for his course, English 4153 "Critical Theory," which provides an attempt to provide a working definition of the term "rhetoric" for the student. The lecture also deals with issues of eloquence, truth, sophistry, the history of rhetoric, and symbols. This lecture was recorded on Friday, August 8th, 2006, at Fort Valley State University.
