The best part comes 13 minutes in.
It is the Helms Bakery truck whistle.
In the late 50s and into the 60s, Helms used to deliver in my neighborhood in the LA area. The whistle was a call to all women in the area, that that fresh baked goods were available for sale, right outside their doors.
We children in the neighborhood to beg their mothers to buy them one of the fresh doughnuts that were known to wait patiently in long drawers at the back of the truck.

"I showed him how it was done!!"
I hate to say it, but Friday's wisdom tooth was more interesting than the actual plot. A neer do well drunkard is killed by a merchant mariner and the bartender than cooks up a phony story (The "Frame") with his regulars.
