Ladislaw StarewiczDuffy the Mascot (1934)

Fétiche Mascotte (Duffy the Mascot, aka The Mascot, aka Puppet Love, aka The Devil's Ball) (1934), a strange story about a loving dog puppet who practically goes through Hell to get an orange to a dying girl. Director Ladislas Starevich (1882-1965) was a Polish, Russian and French stop-motion animator who used insects and animals as his protagonists.

Subject: Amazing!
Great film, but this version is missing about 6 minutes. Search for The Mascot Complete and Uncut to see the whole film.

Subject: Une référence
L'ancêtre de Toys Story, en plus poétique. Tim Burton a du voir ce film et y penser en écrivant son Mr Jack. Un vrai plaisir d'enfant en le regardant, l'animation est techniquement abouti et l'histoire est émouvante. Starevich, le père spirituel de Nick Park ?
