WispWisp - In a Blue Face [EAR008] ()

Wisp hands down In a Blue Face. this album creates a lovely sense of nostalgia with playful drumlines, heartfelt melodies, and an occassional outburst of some seriously satisfying beat programming. it's a beautiful picture in the sky.

This ep is fantastic. A great engaging listen from beginning to end.

Subject: pure idm
a great release by wisp! no revolution in electronic music, but very solid, experienced and melodic synth-idm, sounding a bit like the great late 90s/00s releases by afx, µ-ziq or tim tetlow. wisp knows what he is doing and you can hear that.

Subject: IDM with a soul
Warm and wonderful! This album by Wisp is a must for those who seek to chill. The quick clicky beats transposed over the wet grooves and ringing pads make for a great listening experience. This is medicine for the stressed-out soul. Note: Not all the tracks are as frenetic as the first. Try "A Letter in the Mail" for some playful joy that will lift your spirits. Another great one is "Shep Shaep Sheep." The vocal samples will lull you into a pleasant trance. All in all, these are some great tracks and you won't be disappointed!

The ethereal synth voices were great. The tempo range varied, which helped to make the record flow and keep things interesting. The melodies were catchy and sophisticated. They successfully avoided falling into the trap of repetition that plagues a lot of the generes. There was some nice turntablism thrown in for good measure. This is a real work of art.
