Subject: stunning vocals
yes, i'm also in agreement with my worthy constituents...who IS this singer? what an incredible voice! great fidelity also on the Edison disc--sounds like a platter from the early 20s. I have some 78s of Geraldine Farrar from the early 1900s, but this woman puts her to shame. Perhaps more of her recordings will turn up, anybody out there know anything of her history?

Subject: Opera magic
I agree with Nucamus on this one. Although I am not a big fan of opera in general, this is a fine piece. I do not know who Lucrezia Bori is, but damn, what a fine singer she is! She hits all the notes just perfectly making this piece quite enjoyable to listen to.

Subject: From Wax to IPod
This is quite a high quality recording despite the static. Lucrezia Bori's vocals are quite vivid and beautiful, though the orchestra sounds a bit off. I would be quite happy walking down the street, listening to this hundred-year-old wax cylinder recording on my IPod.
I'm not sure if any processing was done to these recordings during their conversion, but I would believe someone if they told me they were cut 20 to 30 years later. Their historic value alone makes these cylinder recordings worth a listen, but they are really quite beautiful.
