Notes

001 xoxos - Computerland
"computerland...birthday pressie for mother's husband some years ago, combined with 'randyman'. Very quick production. Samples of pro-one in s2000 shot for a 'now is the time on sprockets when we dance' cos that makes a funny. Yeah people like that one."

002 Kriminal - Private Cosmic Gag Reel
An electronic masterpiece, slowly and consistently building towards one hell of a climax. God as prankster.
“I did that song so long ago I can’t even remember it. It has a sample from some Pacino movie...and it wasn’t finished, that’s all I know...it did get a review in Computer music magazine though (UK).”

003 Wopelka - Syphon A highly creative tune composed as a tribute to the late John Peel.
“I would have loved to compose a full orchestral atonal piece recorded with real musicians but I had no time, no money, and probably no talent either. So I focused on another part of the answer to the thematic questions: what? The sex&warm feeling, the hypnotic rhythmic, the tribal quest, the ritual, the mystic, the fusion... body and soul... something like that... and a touch of experimental wankerage, because I love it, too..."

004 Beatpoet - Tao
Tao is a super chilled track that’s delightfully difficult to pin down to any one style. The mixture of sounds and ambiguous rhythms and sometimes very subtle electronic beats that shuffle along through most of the track and richness of synths and other sweet and mellow sounds build a light wall of sound before you know it. They all slide cross each other and weave the song in and out of different feelings and sections with no obvious breaks.
"Tao is a pretty chilled electronica track with an accordion and sitar providing the main focus. I really wanted it to be enjoyed by casual listeners well as those who delve a little deeper."

005 Ixox - PaliaPalimpaPalimPalia
It’s one of those tunes you can belt out because anything that sounds something like “palimpapalimpa” will do. It’s got a very live feel to it, very personal. Every instance seems to be filled with remnants of sound… fingers on strings, inhalations, reverberations.

006 Mystahr - Refinition
A tune fuelled by pumping drum and bass with squelchy acid synths morphing into melody.
“Though it's not the music I make too often, I'm quite proud of it. Recently re-mastered to make it shine and pump more.”

007 Former Pharaoh - Message from the Sigue Chim
“The Sigue Chim are "spirits of the bush". In parts of West Africa, these spirits occupy human vessels (possession) which can be dealt with (exorcised) performing certain tribal drumming/meditation. The message you hear in this song comes from someone who had been possessed by the Sigue Chim a while ago and I feel the message is important to distribute.”

008 Noir - Regula Dark Mix
High energy drum n bass. Sharp, clean production and tight percussion with the odd hint of glitch, backed by a powerful soundscape. This tune is full on. Play only if your speakers can handle it.

009 Bahgheera - Ethnic Cleansing
A lovely ethnic-electronic piece, elements softly intermingle and compliment one another. Electric guitar riffs add fullness and mesh nicely into a melody complimented by haunting vocals, shakers and didgeridoos.

010 Yadla - Laylah
A great dark jazz piece. It plays like a story. Something out of Fantasia. Alone, in a dimly lit alley, the oboe leans against the wall, smoking a cigarette. Steam rises from the sewers. The piano, his shadow, his only companion; unobtrusive but ever-present. Suddenly the clarinet makes her entrance. The dim street lights bounce off her shimmering hips as she approaches. The loyal piano, the oboe’s devout follower gives off heady warnings but her scent, her song is captivating. He is instantly under her spell. What follows is an impassioned entanglement of notes and pitch. By the end it seems even the piano is enjoying himself. A brilliant tune, every shady minute.

011 Bluedad - The Nothing Song
A mix of pleasant male vocals and uncomplicated sweet guitar riffs. A soft string melody works its way in and out of the song. Nice simple melodic rhythm on the bass, lifted with organ strains and lyrics that have a sweet innocence. Good sentiments and a laid back outlook on life that is refreshing. It has a quality that just feels genuine! Very simple words like: “This is life, take your time, have a little sympathy, have a little drink with me.” Nothing over intellectualised, just as it is.

012 FakeDJ – The Alpha, The Being, The Word
It seems to depict beginnings…of life on earth, or time, or evolution. The opening sounds like an electrical connection, then a clock begins ticking. Sounds of bubbles and pulses have me envisioning amoebas and a very suggestive bass line implies something is steadily building. Neurons begin to fire, then more rapidly…and we jump to another level with cosmic undulations. The tone changes and the fight for survival, hearts racing, and hunter stalking prey.
“Although played as one track this is in fact 3 seperate parts. It was meant to be the start of an old fashioned "concept" cd about the beginnings of life and ending with death. At the moment it stops with a child being born and saying it's first words. I hope to soon get round to doing some more.”

013 pHz – Candy Bullet A funky, glitchy hard-hitting piece with distorted vox, great energy and top class breaks. A sweet shot to the head.
“Candy Bullet is a short little track I did for one of the monthly contests at www.kvraudio.com ... normally I do IDM / ambient / noise stuff but wanted to try something different so this is my POP track!!!”

014 Techbot – A World in Your Ear
Based on a Japanese Nursery rhymes tape bought for a friend’s niece. Loose drums and loose production leads to an overall loose feeling!
"I’ve never been big on production techniques, I prefer getting the idea across and quickly moving on.”

015 You™ - Uncalibrated
Complex synth twisting around each other, meaningful lyrics and soft, uncompromising vocals. This couldn’t be pop, could it? Style and content? Maybe we need to come up with some new genre tags...hehe.

016 Merlin McBain - Funktional
“Funktional is intended to portray movement and tension. Imagine the piece as a backdrop to your favourite spy thriller.”

017 Wayoutman - Rubaduby
“Rubaduby is a lovely laidback reggae track influenced by The old Trojan dub/reggae releases from the seventies...of which I am a big fan....when I’ve got a bit more time I’ll re-mix it in a more dub style!!! But if any one else wants to do it for me please do so and email me the results...King Tubby is a fantastic remixer and is my favourite from that decade, listen to him and learn where club music sounds came from!!!”
