Subject: Disappointing
The production quality is poor for 1950, although television would see rapid improvements over the next few years. The story line is disappointingly weak as well, depending more on visuals than fine acting, which Hart was capable of. The Mademoiselle Louise character is entertaining but the screenwriter didn't give the actors much to work with.
The Dannay/Lee families keep a tight lock on the Ellery Queen properties, so it may be a long time before we see better episides of Ellery Queen from the small screen.

Subject: Amazing TV Show
I really love these old shows. People really knew how to act back then. I remember the Ellery Queen from the 70s. This one is just as good. Poor guy had quite a struggle at the end of this episode. No special effects, just pure acting.

I enjoyed this. I didn't think I would since I saw the revised series on NBC with Jim Hutton and David Wayne. It was good.
