Winter is still upon us. And as long it’s not a nuclear winter, then I’m OK with that. So what will happen next? If you’re living in the United States, you might find life a little more difficult, especially if your skin is not of the color approved of by the government. And of course if you have an alternative to the government approved sexual orientation, you might find yourself in deep trouble. Oh, and if you don’t agree with the policies of the government and decide to go out into the street and complain loudly or march in a group with other people, you might end up in jail or badly injured or even dead, if the local authorities view your protest as an act of violence or a threat to public safety.
Germany already went through those horrible times. We don’t need to go through all that again, do we? Jeremy Scahill from the Intercept will be interviewing some interesting people today. It is definitely worth listening to what is being said.
At the end of the first hour, a rather disturbing story, this one is entitled Reva Wakes.
The music this time is from another Stevie, but this time a female Stevie, Stevie Nicks, the woman who was an essential component of Fleetwood Mac.
In the second hour...
Listen, all the news about super-surveillance that is happening now could be really depressing and make you believe there is no way to get out from under the heel of the masters. But take a good look at history and you will see that over time we have always managed to get rid of the kings and queens and the dictators fall and peace sometimes breaks out despite the best wishes of the war mongers. The darkness is always greatest just before dawn.
Remember pastor Niemöller:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me— and there was no one left to speak for me.
Intercepted continues this hour with an interesting conversation with Sy Hersh.
And of course Stevie Nicks continues to entertain us with some beautiful music.
Enjoy!
I shall, in one way or another, talk to you later.
