This amazing bank heist movie stars Johnny Cash, Vic Tayback, Ron Howard, and country music great, Merle Travis. Johnny Cash gives a surprising performance as a guitar playing, sadistic psycho-killer. Six year old Ron Howard is absolutely adorable and practically steals the whole show. A must see film.

This movie was fun. I like the old stuff anyway. Cash has been in several made for TV but this was early i think he would have made a better actor than singer. Ronnie Howard is so cute you just want to pinch his cheeks. I seldom watch movies twice. If I did I might witch this one

you guys had me at 'vic tayback' with this one.
But turns out with skilled editing and a 2 camera shoot and plenty of time, Johnny Cash had a cracker jack psycho-killer performance in him that would have rivaled DeNiro. But it was not to be. Huge dollops of hackneyed pacing and plot clunking mar this picture irredeemably. Nevertheless Cash deploys each hotheaded killing with his signature soundtrack ditty about what country folk call a memento mori. Tayback deftly evinces Johnny's better lines throughout - particularly in a set piece where they case their next job, as he ponders the workaday world and its thankless nihilism. But the film suffers from having its best Cash murder scene up front, when he's zinging his old lady in their hideout hotel room. So how's he gonna lose his nerve with Mrs. Middle Class and all? Self-censorship simply defenstrates the movie eventually.
They laid on the Ronnie Howard so thick I had an onset of type 2 diabetes, btw.

Johnny Cash was an actor? Who knew?! He's really good playing this 'door to door maniac'. I think this role was pretty fitting for him at this point in his life (this film was made during his 'darker' days, way before he became a Christian). Movie fans of all sorts will probably enjoy this one; it's just a little bit twisted, but that's what makes it unique.

For anyone who enjoys a good thriller flick this is top notch stuff. Yeah it's a little dated but seeing Johnny Cash as a twisted sociopath killer makes it just that more interesting. Can't believe no one has not remade this movie..

The story of hard core criminals as told by rich Hollywood stars.
Okay, it was fun for the time it was made.

Was looking for this for a while under its other title (Door To Door Maniac), found it as a dollar-store DVD earlier in the year, but glad to see it here. The uninitiated might regard it as a glimpse into the 'other side' of Cash back at that time, as he plays the character pretty crazily. And the theme song is cool...
